Therefore, in various verses of the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty has highlighted the importance of seeking forgiveness for His servants and its various ways, so that the best of creation can receive forgiveness and go to eternal paradise. And one of the best acts of seeking forgiveness from Allah Almighty is Sayyidul Istighfar. Many people want to know in various ways which is the greatest Istighfar? Many also ask how to do great repentance? So let's find out about this today. Before that, let's come:

What is Istighfar?

Istighfar means: sincerely asking forgiveness from Allah Almighty for all the mistakes and sins of one's life. And through this Istighfar, the servant gets the opportunity to get very close to Allah. That is why our Prophet, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), has repeatedly said about seeking forgiveness. He taught the Ummah to seek forgiveness and he himself recited it repeatedly every day.

What is the easiest Istighfar?

One of the most common and easiest Istighfar among Muslims is:

أَسْتَغْفِرُالله

Pronounced: Astaghfirullah.

Meaning: I seek forgiveness from Allah.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite this Istighfar three times after all obligatory prayers. (Mishkat Sharif, Hadith: 961)

Another important Istighfar is:

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوْبُ إِلَيْهِ

Pronounced: Astaghfirullaha wa atubu ilaihi.

Meaning: I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him.

What is Sayyidul Istighfar? – Which is the best repentance?

Our last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described Sayyidul Istighfar as the best prayer for seeking forgiveness. And this Sayyidul Istegfar is:

God bless him مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ أَبُوآُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَأَبُوُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Pronunciation:

Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta khalakktani wa ana abduka wa ana ala ahdika wa wadika mastatatu aujubika min sharri ma sanatu abuulaka binimatika alaiyya wa abuulaka bijambi fagfirli fa-innahu la yagfiruz junuba illa anta.

Meaning:

O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me. I am Your servant. I try to fulfill the covenant and promise I made with You to the best of my ability. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my sins. I acknowledge Your favor and I also acknowledge my sins. So forgive me. No one can forgive sins except You.

The virtues and importance of Sayyidul Istighfar

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever recites Sayyidul Istighfar in the morning (after Fajr prayer) and in the evening (after Asr or Maghrib prayer) with full faith and a humble heart, if he dies that day, he will enter Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari, Tirmidhi)
